Exhibition opening "Sugar lick and flour pastries"

The exhibition "Sugar lick and flour pastries – Dough figures and sugar art from Appenzell to China" was opened in front of a large crowd of guests on 23 October 2019 at Haus Appenzell. After a welcoming address by the President of the Foundation Ernst Hohl and the Vice Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Zurich and for the Principality of Liechtenstein, Chu Kaimin, the Governing Landammann from Appenzell Innerrhoden, Roland Inauen, spoke about the sweet Innerrhoder Christmas traditions of the Chlausebickli and the Devisli. Curator Hao Hohl-Yu drew the bow from Appenzell to China and gave an insight into the tradition of Chinese dough figures.

In keeping with the exhibition theme, Geni Good and Lorenz Schnyder accompanied the vernissage with sweet melodies, from "In einer kleinen Konditorei" to "Chasch gad en Flade ha" in confectioner's outfit on accordion and clarinet or soprano saxophone.
