In the sunny meadows, the hay is mowed, turned, and carefully brought in. Amid traditional farmhouses, lush greenery, and rolling hills, the landscape reveals its most vibrant side. A summer scene brimming with craftsmanship, a sense of home, and that special tranquility found only in the Appenzell region.
Towards the end of the year, Haus Appenzell will reopen its doors. With the immersive exhibition **“Magische Stunde”**, an atmospheric experience will be created, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the history, culture and traditions of the Appenzell region.
A father and his children set out in search of their missing grandfather. Their journey takes them through a series of carefully staged rooms, where memories, secrets and unexpected encounters are gradually revealed.
The exhibition combines storytelling, sound, light and spatial design to create a captivating sensory experience for visitors of all ages. Appenzell culture is not simply presented, but brought to life in an entirely new way.

With Haus Appenzell, the Ernst Hohl Cultural Foundation Appenzell has created a prestigious "culture showcase" for the Appenzell region and Toggenburg in the heart of Zurich since 2006. Our aim is to bring the traditional and contemporary arts, crafts, and way of life as cultivated and lived in the region around the Alpstein to urban Zurich, to the Swiss public in general, and to other countries. Housed in a beautiful neo-Renaissance building, we show the rich culture and manifold traditions of the region, combine them with foreign cultures, and promote them nationally and internationally.
